Winter solistice - The Great Conjunction

[21/12, 16:34] Mini: On December 21, the day of the conjunction, Jupiter and Saturn will be separated by a mere 0.1 degrees, and may appear as a single bright “star.” The two planets are completely merged together on our Night Sky Map for this date, although a careful observer should be able to separate them in the sky with the naked eye. The pair of planets will become visible at twilight, close to the southwestern horizon in the Northern Hemisphere, or the western horizon in the Southern Hemisphere. They will set within a couple of hours or so, so it is important to have a clear view toward the horizon. Jupiter and Saturn will continue to be an impressive sight in the early evenings following December 21. During January 2021, however, the two planets will become lost in the glare of the Sun. December 21 marks the winter solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, but in 2020 the longest night of the year is also going to be a witness to an incredible astronomic event known as the “great co

CONSTITUTION DAY

NATIONAL CONSTITUTION DAY - 26 NOVEMBER  Our constitution is the soul of our democratic country. 26 November is celebrated as National Constitution day every year. To celebrate this historic day, students of class VII wrote a Preamble for their class. Preamble is the soul of the constitution. It reflects the ideology of a country. It is an introductory and expressionary statement in a document that explains the document’s purpose and underlying philosophy.  Students of class VII promised to be in discipline, respect cultural diversities, work hard and cooperate with each other in all classroom and school activities. Students participated enthusiastically and gave a deep thought on how our class Preamble should look. Students came up with interesting ideas, they drew beautiful borders, amazing fonts and attractive colour schemes.

HUMAN RIGHTS DAY

Human Rights Day is observed every year on 10 December — the day the United Nations General Assembly adopted, in 1948. The (UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS) UDHR is a milestone document that proclaims the inalienable rights which everyone is entitled to as a human being - regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. In class VIII, I shared one short documentary - BLACK AND WHITE (national human rights commission awarded film) I asked a few things from students - what are the three things that strike you most about the film? What symbol does the film use to discuss human rights? In what ways might this Indian film differ or be the same as one from Ireland or the US for example? Students of class VIII were excited and keen to answer and share their thoughts. We had a great discussion on these questions. This helped in sensitizing students about Human Rights.
