Vasant Panchami

वसंत पंचमी का त्योहार हर साल माघ महीने में हिंदू कैलेंडर (फरवरी-मार्च के बीच) के अनुसार मनाया जाता है। हिंदी में बसंत का अर्थ है ‘वसंत’ और पंचमी का अर्थ है पांचवां, इसलिए वसंत पंचमी माघ के हिंदू कैलेंडर महीने के पांचवें दिन पड़ता है। यह होलिका और होली के अन्य प्रमुख हिंदू त्योहारों की तैयारी की शुरुआत का भी प्रतीक है, जो चालीस दिन बाद होते हैं। बसंत पंचमी वसंत की शुरुआत का प्रतीक है – जो सभी मौसमों का राजा। यह त्योहार सरसों की फसल के पीले फूलों के साथ कृषि क्षेत्र के पकने का भी जश्न मनाता है। लोग वसंत पंचमी त्योहार को पीले रंग के कपड़े पहनकर, पीले रंग के मीठे व्यंजन खाकर और घरों में पीले फूलों का प्रदर्शन करके मनाते हैं।

Happy Republic Day

India is gearing up to celebrate its 71st Republic Day on January 26. Three years after gaining independence from the British on August 15, 1947, India’s constitution came into effect on January 26, 1950. This day is celebrated as the Republic Day across the country. The main event on this day is marked with parades on the Rajpath, New Delhi that shows India’s military prowess and cultural diversity. The Republic Day's main function is held in Delhi where Ministry of Defence organises a parade before the President of India commencing from Rashtrapati Bhavan. The parade pasts through the Raisina Hill on Rajpath, India Gate, Connaught Place, ITO and culminates at Red Fort. The President, being the supreme commander of the armed forces, takes the salute from the different regiments of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force and their bands marching past on the Rajpath. Happy Makar Sankranti

Makar Sankranti is celebrated on a fixed date that is 14 January every year. It also marks the termination of the Winter season and the beginning of a new harvest season. It is dedicated to Lord Sun. It also refers to a specific solar day in the Hindu calendar. On this auspicious day, the sun enters the zodiac sign of Capricorn or Makar which marks the end of winter month and start of longer days. This is the beginning of the month of Magh. To recompense for the distinction that happens due to the revolution around the sun, every 80 years the day of Sankranti is deferred by one day. From the day of Makar Sankranti, the sun begins its northward journey or Uttarayan journey. Therefore, this festival is also known as Uttarayan.

Youth Day  is celebrated in the memory of different people in different countries on  different dates. In India it is celebrated in the memory of Swami Vivekananda’s Birthday on 12 january as National Youth Day and in Venezuela on 12 february in the memory of Battle of La Victoria.

Happy Lohri

May the Lohri fire burn away all the sadness out of your life and bring you joy, Happiness, and Love.  Wishing a Very Happy Lohri to You and Your Family. Lohri is a popular winter Punjabi folk  festival , celebrated on January 13 every year just a day before Makar Sankranti. The  Lohri  festival signals the end of winter and also marks the culmination of the coldest night of the year. It is also a way of welcoming longer, sunnier days and the sun’s northward journey to the hemisphere, which is also reffered to as Uttarayan. It typically falls on the same date every year (January 13). Lohri is also a way of remembering the sun deity Surya and is celebrated with the lighting of a bonfire, which is considered an ancient tradition.

Students of class VI wrote slogans to save environment. Newspaper cuttings were pasted in their notebooks. They promised to work for the betterment of environment. It was pleasing to see that students came up with the new ideas of protecting environment. Here's the glimpse of the activity.
